With VIC numerical double digit heritage plates now valued at a minimum of $1,000,000 this is a rare opportunity to retain an exclusive number plate before it becomes prohibitively expensive. Double digit numerical plates were once available for under $10k in the 1980’s but have appreciated x100 and V series plates will follow.
VicRoads intended to issue V series heritage plates in 2008 but was stopped on the day of auction via court order by those with a vested interest in protecting the value of their own heritage plates. The V Series was then slipped through as signature plates years later where they were quickly snapped up by those who noticed.
The V stands for Victoria in conjunction with Q plates offered by Queensland. Many would argue V series plates are on par if not better looking than their numerical counterparts as the state letter (V) conveys a sense of pride representing Australia’s greatest state -Victoria.
With only 99 combinations (V.01-99) this plate offers supreme exclusivity as opposed to a 5 digit numerical plate (100,000 combinations) or a 6 digit plate (185,000 combinations). No triple digit V series plates (V.100-999) have ever been issued and it is unlikely they ever will be.
There is only one V89 and once this plate is sold it may never reappear for sale again.
Can be owned and retained by QLD residents without a VIC drivers licence or residence.
